Channeling a childhood hangover from cartoon binges and Aerobics Oz Style, ‘Bump and Grind’ re-imagines the seductive lycra thrusts and masked escapades of 80’s early morning TV as a hypnotic hothouse of plush forms, vibrant hues and animated proportions. Caught in the illusive and often ridiculous pursuit of physical perfection, Amanda Wolf’s fitness gimps straddle the awkward slippage between fantasy and reality in a hypnotic techni-colour display of half-assed stretches and elaborate chaffing.
Bump and Grind was developed through the House Conspiracy Artist in Residence program in Brisbane, Australia. It has been exhibited as part of softcore. at This Must Be The Place and Colourful Chaos by fluxKUNST at The Laundry in Brisbane, Australia.
